Soooo, the house we choose is a yellow townhouse. It's on the corner of an "eight-plex". It has a fenced in backyard, a basement, 3 bedrooms, and 2 floors (3 with the basement). It's in walking distance (well when it's not -47 below like it was yesterday) to several places. Nothing great but still it's in a good spot. The horrible thing is it was built before the 2nd world war and the housing people said it has lead paint in it!!! Yes, the US Army wants us to live in a house with our child (on post) with a dangerous hazard like that inside! What crap, huh? If we would have not taken the house we would have been put on the bottom of the list of 200 (which means we'd have to live off post-we can't because I don't feel safe with Vin leaving soon).

Hmmmmmmmm..........It's a nice house though.

I miss Live Journal so much! I still don't have all my old friends listed. I think this new name is a hunk of junk. I not being able to read my friend's pages because they've cursed or something and this ghetto Jesus loving computer won't let me view them. Argh!!!! In a few days I'll be without a computer period though (because we'll be in the new house but still well not have our things). :(

BTW- Have you guys heard from carnivorgrrr? I'm starting to worry about her and little Canon a lot.

Today housing called to let us know they have 2 houses for us to choose from tomorrow. Depending on which one we like we'll get to move in either Feb. 7th or the 10th! I'm so excited. Both are nice with fenced backyards and corner spot location.

Sorry I haven't been updating much. Vinny and I have been going to Fairbanks like everyday to explore the area. We've found a great bookstore, art gallery, chinese spot, and Hot Topic.

I've also made a friend with the woman next door to us (in billeting). She has a 2 year old that Geoffrey just loves. They have so much fun together. She's really sweet. This is her families first duty station as well. :)

Hope to be around more often....

So our car finally got here yesterday. It's been at the shop since then getting winterized. That cost us about $300. :/

I'm so freaking sick of living out of this glorified hotel. I feel like Scarlett's character in Lost In Translation. Only w/o a Bill Murray. :(

Geoffrey had so much fun actually getting to play with other children his age today at the indoor playground inside the PX. He went non-stop for 3 hours!!! He even went on the big kid slide. Yay! Lol. It was super fun.

A lot of the people I really liked in my other live journal didn't add this one back (like carnivorgrrr and nickybelle) :( I wonder why . . . I miss them.

Vin came in around 5:30pm with Jason waiting down stairs to drive us to the Px for a humidifier. Well isn't that sweet. Except, that I had a nice Mexican dinner on the table and had already been waiting for his ass for over 2 hours. Of course, I had to go go go when he was ready though. :/ So we get the munchkin dressed for the snow and head over to the PX. We were there for like 5 minutes. It took longer to put Geoff's clothes on then we were actually out of this freaking hotel room. Too bad my husband needs me with him to make a bold purchase like a humidifier. :P It was *so* difficult.

Then we got the joy of eating cold tacos and beans as vinny got drunk and watched The Matrix. How nice.

My hubby comes home each day at 3:30pm. Yet here it is 4:34pm and he's still not here! The Alaskan sun is now set and we never got to go to the PX like we needed to. Crap!

Yesterday was so very boring. Aside from Vin coming home for lunch and playing Scategories with me I spent from 5am-3:30pm sleeping, eating, and watching Disney DVDs.

After Vin finally got off work we decided to call his sponsor and go to Fred Myers. Now, we don't have that store in Florida so boy were we in for a treat! I was so freaking happy to find so much organic/vegetraian food. They have so much stuff. It's my new favorite store by far. We even got some Starbucks there. ;)

On the way back from Fairbanks we were able to faintly see the northern lights. That was rad.

I started feeling quite sick later into the night. It's so dry here. My nose is always bleeding and I keep getting really bad headaches. :/ I hope I get used to this place soon.

I heard the phone ring around 5am to find my Mom on the line telling me that nobody came to pick up our stuff (to ship here to Alaska). Christ! That means we'll have to wait like at least 3 months before any of it will get here. Vin will be gone by then. :/ Grr. Sometimes the Army makes me sooooo mad!

After breakfast in the dining hall today we decided to take advantage of our curiosity and the clear skies. We bundled up and called a cab to take us to Walmart. Leaving The Inn we were surprised to find beautiful mountains surrounding what seemed to be the entire Post. It was around 10:30am and the sun was just peeking over the landscape. I found myself in awe of the gorgeous colors. I've never seen a sky light up in bright pink the way it does here in Alaska. What a beautiful background for the gray and snow-covered white trees lining the roadside. Huge black ravens fly through the snow making quite a scene. Everything seems to be out of a fairytale or romantic mystery novel.

We got a bit of a shock arriving at Walmart in Fairbanks. I thought all Walmarts pretty much looked the same (huge blue buildings). Not here. We found a rather small brown brick store. Lol- we were even more shocked to find out they had no grocery store. It wasn't a Super Walmart, just a very small complex claiming to be a familiar area. Rats.

Don't think that stopped us from spending most of the day there though. :) We got our photographs developed (wish I could post them), ate yummy toasted Subway sandwiches, and bought like $150 worth of DVDs to keep us busy this week. Such titles as: Spiderman, Beetle Juice, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, The PageMaster, and a few others. I can tell we are going to have quite a collection by the time our 3 year tour here is over. ;)

After leaving Wallyworld we walked to the PX (not fun in -13 snow). Geoff had a blast playing on the indoor playground though. What a great thing to have here. I wish there weren't so many older kids on it. :P Before we left we picked up a coffee ice cream cake for Vin's Birthday. It was really freaking great.

Now I'd better get back upstairs to see that he gets a good "present" *hubba-hubba".
